I feel like I’ve known Steve for a long time, but when I think about it, I probably only know the tiniest bit about him. Dude is quiet sometimes, and I always wonder what he’s thinking, but he’s made me laugh like crazy before too. The only slice of his life that I’m familiar with is his skating, and his photography. Here are four quick questions with my boy Steve, and a bunch of new photos of some local Orangeville/Moguls crew dudes. R! – What’s your complete current photo setup?
Steve – Nikon D70 body, 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 lens, 50mm f/1.8 lens, ebay slaves, 2 x Nikon SB-24 flashes, a couple lightstands.
R! – The stuff we have here are all skate photos, is that all you shoot? What’s you’re favorite stuff to photograph, and why boy.
Steve – I haven’t had much time to be shooting stuff other than skating, cause’ I’m usually always out skating. So yeah, shooting skating is definitely my favourite, shooting random shit while out skatings always good too. Skateboardings my life pretty much, thats why.
R! – As an outsider, skating seems to be really cliquey, and really focused on hate, more on love. Is this true? Tell us what you think about that sort of thing.
Steve – You’re right in a sense. Skateboardings become much more competitive than it used to when I started 5 years ago. People need to just relax and have fun and do it for themselves, not just to brag about the new tricks they learned or landed down the new, overskated shit.
