Canadian BMX Blog Archive

The Northern Embassy is always up to something awesome for Canadian BMX. Earlier this January they put together a contest featuring a ton of well known Canadian shredders, along with an Expert jam/session where the winner gets to join the Pro Teams for an invite-only part of the contest. Everyone threw down, including REPSET’s very own Chijioke and Greg Henry. The highlight video above features a ton of crazy footage from Dillon Lloyd (Team Captain), Mike Gray (Team Captain), Ryan Eles, Brandon Webster, Eli Taylor, Justin Hughes, Gabe Truax, Dean Hartley, Spencer Ryan Greg Henry, and Chijioke Okafo.

I’ve said many words about Chris Silva over the years, but only rarely do we get to share a full section from Toronto’s most prolific street rider. Chris stacked four minutes of his pegless rail destruction into this video with a ton of unique spots and setups sprinkled throughout. Watch it in full above, and catch my all time favourite pegless-Silva section below.

This video brings me back to a really fun era of Canadian BMX. Back in the day, Brad Hill was fortunate enough to tag along with various squads and teams across the country for some of Tenpack’s (RIP) tours and trips. Brad re-posted this edit recently, and I thought it’d be perfect to revive on the REPSET website as well. With this video featuring footage from Greg Henry, Chijioke Okafo, Phil Bartlett, and many many other Canadian shredders it goes without saying that this is worth a fresh watch. Tons of Winnipeg footage, too. Enjoy!

The lil’ homie Seth has been progressing like crazy over the years. Growing up from an unknown Skatepark West local to the bar slinger featured above. Seth spent his summer along with Jordan Herzog whipping this video together and it came out dope. Enjoy.

So so good. BK has been mobbin’ since day one and he just dropped this video with tons of footage from in and around Winnipeg, with some clips from the German connect for good measure. Featuring REPSET homies and extended fam like (in order): Curtis Fox, Paul Santos, Garrett Laurie, Riley Harmatski, Josiah Harder, Greg Batenchuk, Matt Perrin, Kyle Pirrie, Colin Thiessen, Mitchell Stevens, Seth Belmore, Curtis Kroeker, Louelle Smith, Andrew Formela, Marco Hoffmann, and Jonathan Hausmann. Filmed and edited by the man himself with some camera help from Kyle Pirrie.

Hit play. This is a deece one.

Brayden is the mastermind behind the MOBBIN’ MIXTAPE, too. We’ve got that embedded below for your viewing pleasure.

Ian Peters hails from just outside Winnipeg and has been quietly making his mark on BMX since first showing up to the city on his bright red Sunday kit. After releasing an awesome and well received compilation edit last year (“Let’s Try That Again!“), Ian decided to keep the tradition alive and travelled over 6000km to put together this amazing second instalment.

Featuring footage from across the prairies, Chicago, and even some clips from our annual SUMMER SLAM contest. This is definitely worth watching and an excellent keepsake for everyone involved. Thanks to Ian for putting together this video. At the end of the day REPSET was founded to promote BMX and the fun that goes with it, so this really hits home.

We’ve got some words from Ian below, and a Leftovers section too! The execution was nailed on this one.

From March until October 2015, my friends & I filmed daily to make this project come together. It was a huge undertaking but I am happy with the result. The Idea was to build on the video i made last year (“Let’s Try That Again!”) and make a video with a similar layout, but bigger and better. I travelled over 6,000 kms to ride different skateparks and explore different cities and have a good time along the way. This was filmed all over Manitoba as well as in Regina SK, Kenora ON & Chicago IL.

Huge thanks to all of my friends who helped me out behind and infront of the camera and to Matt Perrin & Hayden Mills for going on trips with me. The highlight of the summer was in July when Matt & I drove to Chicago, IL to attend the annual for the Monster Energy Street Series. That’s Augie Aughinbaugh with that crazy crooked grind down the kinker which was one of the spots we stopped at during the event. Enjoy.

Brenten had the camera out during a fall session at Winnipeg’s huge downtown plaza and caught moves from the squad. The caption on this was ‘too lazy to ride street’, but definitely not too lazy to lay a bunch of dope moves down. Featuring Curtis Kroeker, Louelle Smith, and Seth Belmore.

Looks like our pals at 514BMX had a blast. These guys have had their hands in awesome BMX shit for years and it’s awesome to see their events grow. We ended up sending them two packages by accident so there was plenty of REPSET gear to be won. Check the video out above for a recap of the costumed shredding.

The squad packed up and drove out to Kenora for a weekend of BMX, camping, and jumping off shit into water this summer.
Here’s a short look at the little skatepark warm-up session plus some antics after a day of riding Kenora’s street offerings.

Thanks again to Nic Z. for the hospitality and accommodations.

Shout out to our homie RAYNY for the beat.

Also, in case you missed it, we published a Kenora Photogallery shot by Dennis Burnett, as well.
